GENTAPLUG Injection

GENTAPLUG Injection contains Gentamicin 40 mg/2 mL, an aminoglycoside antibiotic formulated for parenteral administration. The product is supplied in a 10 × 2 mL ampoule presentation and is specified for intramuscular or intravenous use.

Gentamicin is used in the management of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. Its established antibacterial spectrum includes organisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia, Citrobacter, Proteus and susceptible Staphylococcus species.

Injectable gentamicin may be used in selected serious infections involving the bloodstream, respiratory tract, urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, central nervous system, skin, bone and soft tissues, depending on the causative organism and susceptibility profile.

GENTAPLUG is therefore positioned within the injectable antibiotic and critical-care portfolio, particularly for hospital and institutional requirements where parenteral aminoglycoside therapy is clinically appropriate.

Because gentamicin has clinically important renal and auditory toxicity risks, treatment should be guided by qualified healthcare professionals, with appropriate dose adjustment and monitoring where required. Renal impairment may necessitate modification of the dosing regimen.
